iOS 16 is the 16th major release of the iOS mobile operating system developed by Apple. It was announced at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference on June 6, 2022,[1] and it is the successor to iOS 15.

The public release of iOS 16 was released on September 12, 2022 worldwide. iOS 16 has been succeeded by iOS 17 as of September 18, 2023.

iOS 16 can customize their lock screen such as widgets, customizable time and date and customizable emoji wallpaper.[2] It has a live activities.[3]

The first developer beta of iOS 16 was released on June 6, 2022. iOS 16 was officially released on September 12, 2022.
