Lieutenant General Humayun Aziz HI(M) is a retired three-star general of the Pakistan Army and a former Defence Secretary of Pakistan. During his military career, he held key positions including Commander of the V Corps and General Officer Commanding of the 2nd Artillery Division.
Military career
[edit]Humayun Aziz was commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1983 in the Regiment of Artillery. Over the decades, he served in both command and staff appointments.
In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and appointed as General Officer Commanding of the 2nd Artillery Division in Gujranwala.[1]
In August 2018, he assumed command of the V Corps, Karachi.[2] He led military exercises and operational readiness efforts in southern Pakistan until his retirement in December 2020.[3]
Post-retirement
[edit]After retirement, Aziz was appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Production.[4] He served in this capacity until 2023, when he was succeeded by Lt Gen (R) Hamood Uz Zaman Khan. [5]
He was also appointed as the Colonel Commandant of the Pakistan Army Artillery Corps. [6]
