Kökar (kapital sa munisipyo)

Thankyou for sorting out some of the GeoNames errors, you have tagged Kökar (kapital sa munisipyo) and similar articles for deletion with the reason of bad Geonames however looking at the GeoNames map it does show a settlement at the location so could you please elaborate on why these need deleting as I don't know Finland's geography etc well enough to know why these are errors, thanks. 1. The sources used by worldgazetteer 2006 sometimes added places with population to geonames that can not be found on other maps.

2. In this case it is not on the Finnish map. This is the only map that matters because it is the official map from the Finnish land survey.

3. The central village in the municipality Kökar (munisipyo) is geonames 653943 Karlby. Se fi:Kökar. The lsjbot didn't add this because there isn't any population in that geoname record. The municipality today only has a population of 225. The 335 in the village 2006 was most likely from some old population data in the municipality that worldgazetteer added to PPL when it should have been in the ADM.

The database geonames sometimes has errors for ADM and PPL (and others). I am usually checking ADM but if I think the wikidata object based on an incorrect PPL gives incorrect results in a Wikidata Query Service I ask for the wikipedia article to be deleted so the Wikidata object can be removed. In this case the bad geoname from 2006 also added this to open street map via Wikipedia. Maundwiki (talk) 13:00, 29 Hunyo 2024 (UTC)

Should I merge the bot error article with the municipality or just delete completely? its just that there are lots of links to it from Gregerskläpparna though they could be unlinked or the statement could be removed completely. Qu0404 (talk) 12:07, 1 Hulyo 2024 (UTC)

The ones that can be merge I merge on ceb. I would delete it since it is based on a phantom PPL i geonames, even with all the incoming wiki-links since the municipality is an area and the distances would be wrong in the articles. Can you run en:Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser on ceb? With it the text can be changed or removed. Maundwiki (talk) 12:27, 1 Hulyo 2024 (UTC)
