About the event

[edit]

Wikicurious: Editing Health Innovation on Wikipedia is happening on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 11am - 3pm at Health Wildcatters in Dallas, Texas hosted by Wikimedia NYC. This event is perfect for anyone looking to learn more about Wikipedia and how to create and edit articles related to health innovation.

This May 15 event will focus on improving health-related content on Wikipedia. The training will be led by Richard Knipel, Wikimedian in Residence at CUNY. We’re also excited to feature Dallas-based journalist and Wikipedian Stephen Harrison, who will speak about the importance of accurate, accessible health information online, where misinformation and disinformation is readily available. Stephen is known as a leading reporter on the Wikipedia beat and is also the author of the novel The Editors.

Wikicurious is a beginner level series that trains participants on how to edit Wikipedia, in order to promote free access to the world’s knowledge. Wikimedia NYC started the pilot in New York, is expanding this program across the country, and is pleased to be doing our first event in Dallas. The Wikicurious series is supported by Craig Newmark Philanthropies. Wikimedia NYC is an official affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation.
