ZViT studio is an independent virtual reality (VR) development studio based in Ukraine, founded by architect Victoria Lopukhina and developer Tim Voronkin. The studio specializes in creating immersive VR experiences, primarily for the VRChat platform, combining artistic storytelling with technical innovation. Their portfolio includes "BLOODBATH," a VRChat world that won the "Spirit of Raindance" award at the Raindance Film Festival in 2022, a photogrammetric reconstruction of Wenceslas Square in Prague, and a collaboration with Brainz Immersive on "Fragile Home," a mixed reality project addressing the impact of the Russo-Ukrainian War on families. ZViT studio’s work is recognized for its emotional depth and cultural resonance, often reflecting Ukrainian heritage and contemporary issues.
History
[edit]ZViT studio was founded by Victoria Lopukhina, an architect with expertise in design and calligraphy, and her son Tim Voronkin, a young developer skilled in VR programming. The exact founding date is not publicly documented, but the studio gained prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic. They established an online digital residence on the Mozilla Hubs platform, offering coaching, mentoring, and educational programs, such as art history courses for children and robot modeling workshops using Stud.io software.[1] This initiative underscored their commitment to using VR for community engagement and education. The studio’s strength lies in the synergy of Lopukhina’s artistic vision and Voronkin’s technical expertise, enabling them to craft immersive experiences that explore historical and cultural narratives.[2]
Projects
[edit]ZViT studio has developed several notable VR projects, primarily for VRChat, showcasing their ability to merge technical precision with storytelling. Below is an overview of their key works:
BLOODBATH
[edit]"BLOODBATH" is a VRChat world that recreates events on Snake Island (Zmiinyi Island) during the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Developed by Tim Voronkin at age 17, under the artistic direction of Victoria Lopukhina and produced by Oksana Syhareva, the project immerses users in a historical narrative where they make moral choices based on real events. It received praise for its emotional impact and interactivity, earning the "Spirit of Raindance" award at the Raindance Film Festival in 2022.[3][4] The project was also showcased at the goEast Film Festival in 2022, noted for its poignant depiction of Ukrainian resilience.[5]
