Sachithra Yashminda Weerasinghe (Sinhala: සචිත්‍ර යෂ්මින්ද වීරසිංහ; born 27 April 1992), known professionally as Yash Weerasinghe, is a Sri Lankan actor and voice actor. Over a career spanning nearly a decade, Weerasinghe has established himself as a versatile and dynamic presence in both television drama and the Sinhala dubbing industry. He is widely recognized for his ability to portray a diverse range of characters, earning acclaim for his performances in Popular series such as Wes.[1], Ravana[2][3], Bro[4][5], and Kiya Den Adare Tharam[6][7][8]

Expanding his creative journey to the silver screen, Yash took on his first major film role in Paraga, directed by Danushka Rathnayaka[9][10], which is slated to be release soon. This marks a new chapter in his career, showcasing his evolution as an actor capable of captivating audiences across different platforms.

Weerasinghe is also regarded as one of the leading voice artists of his generation, having lent his voice to the Sinhala adaptations of numerous international television series, including The Japanese drama Carnation, the Indian serial Diya Aur Baati Hum, and the Korean drama Descendants of the Sun. Early Life and Education

Yash Weerasinghe born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to Jayantha Weerasinghe and Muditha Jayakody. He is the middle child, Has an older brother Dulanjan Rashminde Weerasinghe  and a younger sister Upadya mandira Weerasinghe. Raised in a nurturing and education-oriented household, Yash displayed leadership qualities and an eagerness to perform from an early age. His passion for acting and performing arts stems from his maternal relatives’ influence, the Jayakody family, with his “Loku Amma,” veteran actress Geetha Kanthi Jayakody, being a central inspiration and continuous support in his journey.

He began his primary education at Bomiriya Munidasa Kumaratunga Vidyalaya in Kaduwela. Later, he attended Bomiriya Central College, where he completed Completed his advanced level in mathematics stream. Throughout his school years, Yash developed an early interest in acting, inspired by his family’s involvement in the performing arts. Acting Career

Yash began his acting career through minor roles in television dramas, including ‘Para Walalu’, facilitated by his aunt Geetha Kanthi Jayakody. A significant milestone came when Chandana Irugalbandara introduced Yash to Danushka Rathnayaka, leading to further collaborative work in both dubbing and acting. His professional debut came with the role of "Kosala" in Danushka Rathnayaka's 2016 drama ‘Mauna Yagaya', in which he played the role of “Kosala,” a reporter. This marked a turning point in his acting career.

He continued to appear in series such as Eka Gee Minissu by Siva Sivagurunathan, and then landed the role of “Madawa” in the popular Swarnavahini drama Was, again under Danushka Rathnayaka’s direction. Yash’s breakout role came in (year) in Heli, a TV Derana drama directed by Rathnayaka and produced by Gayan Dinesh Perera, where he played a main role for the first time.

He went on to portray the challenging character “Myadana” in the historical fantasy drama Ravana directed by Thushara Tennakone, and further gained popularity through his roles in ITN’s Bro as “Kesahara” and Kiya Den Adare Tharam as “Dewani.” His performance in Anaraga also stood out, further elevating his recognition among Sri Lankan TV audiences.

Dubbing Career

Yash's dubbing career began in 2015 through a pivotal opportunity provided by Wajira Kumara Vithanage at the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. This connection was initially made by his aunt Geetha Kanthi Jayakody. His debut role was “Mathako” in the Sinhala dub of the Japanese drama Carnation, titled Aththatu Na Etha Eya Igilei. During his tenure at the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, he was introduced to TV Derana by Mr. Anura Attigala, which enabled him to expand his presence in the dubbing industry. Since then, Yash has contributed to approximately 30 dubbing projects, showcasing his versatility and consistency in voice performance across various genres.
