Seungkyu Yang (born 1980) is a South Korean architect and technology evaluation expert, best known for his interdisciplinary contributions to public infrastructure and digital construction innovation. He has played a leading role in major national projects, including the architectural supervision of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics power facilities, and has served on numerous government and public institution advisory committees. Yang is recognized for advancing Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in the energy sector and has received national awards such as the Grand Prize at the Digital Architecture Awards. His work has been covered by multiple independent, reliable sources and has had a significant impact on the convergence of architecture, construction, and IT in South Korea.

Early Life and Education

Yang graduated from Kangwon National University with a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering. He later earned a master's degree in urban and real estate development from Hanyang University and is currently a doctoral candidate in technology management at Sogang University.

Career

Yang began his career at an architectural firm, participating in domestic and international projects, including the Hyundai Motor Company R&D Center extension and Shenzhen Metro station construction in China. He later worked in a construction IT venture, focusing on BIM (Building Information Modeling) software development, and contributed as a columnist to CAD&Graphics magazine.

In 2013, Yang obtained his architect license and joined KEPCO in 2014. He was responsible for architectural supervision of substation construction for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics main stadium, and served as a torchbearer during the event. In 2019, he received the Grand Prize at the Digital Architecture Awards for his work on "Power Facility BIM VR, AR."

Yang has been an active member of numerous public committees, including design and construction evaluation panels for major government agencies, local governments, and public institutions.
