The firm provides corporate services, fiduciary and private wealth administration, fund administration, and capital markets–related services to international clients. In 2025 and early 2026, press coverage reported that VG announced the opening of a London office and new capital markets services, and that William Douglas was appointed Chief Executive Officer to lead the firm’s next phase of growth.[1][2] VG operates under Jersey’s regulatory framework.

History

[edit]

VG was established in 1982 initially called Volaw Group to provide private wealth fiduciary and fund administration services within Jersey’s international finance sector.[1] It subsequently developed corporate and capital markets services.[3]

In 2019 it adopted the name VG, as it continues to be known.

VG has contributed to the development of financial services in Jersey in a number of ways. It jointly created the first Shariah-compliant real estate funds in 1996, it adopted the Jersey Company Law amendments in 2002[2] and it contributed to the Government of Jersey consultation on the creation of a Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme in 2011 [3].

In July 2024, VG received a strategic investment from Mayfair Equity Partners, which acquired a majority stake in the company to support its growth and expansion strategy.[4]

In June 2025, industry publication *Investment International* reported that VG announced plans to open a dedicated office in the City of London and launch a new capital markets service offering, including special purpose vehicle services (SPV), loan agency, trustee and escrow capabilities. The service launch and expansion were led by a Head of Capital Markets appointed to oversee the business in both Jersey and London.[1]

In January 2026, *Channel Eye*, a business and lifestyle news outlet for the Channel Islands, reported that VG appointed William Douglas as Chief Executive Officer. The article noted that his appointment supports the firm’s growth ambitions, including plans for further expansion into international markets, building on previous developments such as the London office and capital markets services launch.[2]
