Treamer is a Finnish technology company that operates a job and career networking platform focused on frontline industries such as retail, logistics, and hospitality. The platform combines job matching with social networking features that enable users to create public career profiles, build reputation, and interact professionally through a social feed and messaging.

History

[edit]

Treamer was founded in 2015 by Peter Sazonov, Maija Itkonen, Matias Mäkitalo, and Miikka Mäkitalo. The original service functioned as a consumer-focused peer-to-peer gig platform aimed at helping young people access short-term work through a mobile app.[1]

The founding team created an early prototype in 2016 that attracted initial funding and media attention.[2]

In 2018, Treamer transitioned from a consumer-focused peer-to-peer application to a business-to-business staffing platform. The shift was supported through an equity crowdfunding campaign.[3]

In 2020, Alma Career (part of Alma Media) led an investment round in the company.[4] In the same year, Treamer was selected for the Young Innovative Company funding program administered by Business Finland, which supports high-growth startups with international potential.[5]

In 2023, Treamer introduced social networking features with the intention of becoming a “LinkedIn for frontline workers.”

Peter Sazonov and Maija Itkonen had previously worked together at Powerkiss, a Finnish startup developing wireless charging solutions, later acquired by a U.S.-based company.[6] The two are also co-inventors of a wireless charging technology, for which they were granted an international patent in 2011.[7] Itkonen went on to found Onego Bio, a biotechnology firm that raised €40 million in Series A funding in 2023.[8]

Platform

[edit]

Treamer’s platform includes tools for job matching, workforce planning, and professional networking. It enables workers to create public-facing career profiles that include work history, ratings, and availability. In addition, a social feed allows users to post updates, follow others, and build visibility across workplaces.

Employers can post shifts and use AI-powered tools to identify available, qualified workers based on location, past experience, and ratings. Hiring managers also have visible profiles and reputations within the platform.

Clients and use

[edit]

The platform is used by companies in logistics, hospitality and retail. Clients include Wolt Market, Verkkokauppa.com and Pizza Hut. These organizations use Treamer to support short‑term, seasonal, and long‑term staffing needs.[9][10][11]

In 2024, Treamer reported €7.6 million in gross merchandise volume (GMV) and €1.6 million in revenue. By mid-2025, GMV had grown 55% year-over-year.

Media Coverage

[edit]

Treamer has been cited in Finnish media for adapting staffing practices to modern labor market demands. A 2022 article by Yle highlighted the company’s role in supporting flexible work arrangements.[12]
