Timothy B. Erickson is an American physician and academic specializing in emergency medicine, medical toxicology, and humanitarian health. He is a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI), where he contributes to global health education and disaster response research.[1]

Early Life and Education

Dr. Erickson earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Health Sciences / Chicago Medical School.[2] He completed emergency medicine residency training in Chicago at the University of Illinois and his medical toxicology fellowship at Cook County Hospital. Dr. Erickson is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, American College of Medical Toxicology, American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, and the National Geographic Explorers Club.[3]

Career

Erickson is currently affiliated with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he serves in the Department of Emergency Medicine[4]. He holds a senior faculty role at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, focusing on the intersection of environmental health, disaster response, and humanitarian action.[5] His areas of expertise include chemical and radiological hazards, climate change and health, global toxicology, and the health impacts of conflict and displacement.[6]

He has led or participated in humanitarian field missions globally and has contributed to capacity-building in underserved and conflict-affected regions. Erickson has been involved in training health professionals on topics related to global health security, environmental disasters, and mass casualty response.
