Sofía Cruz Rocha (born 1989 in Mexico City)[1] is a Mexican visual artist based in Vienna. Her work includes painting, installation, and sculpture, exploring themes of consciousness and the relationship between the individual and the cosmos.[2]

Early life and education

Sofía Cruz Rocha studied at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda" in Mexico City.[3] She continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna starting in 2014.[4]

Career

Cruz Rocha has exhibited internationally at institutions including the Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL)[5], the Museo Colegio de San Ildefonso[6], Galería Enrique Guerrero in Mexico City, C1760 in New York, Meno Parkas in Lithuania[7], Macura Museum in Serbia[8], and venues in Vienna such as Kunstraum Niederösterreich.[9]

She has participated in international art fairs such as Zona Maco (Mexico City)[10][11][12][13], Untitled Art Fair (Miami Beach)[14], Parallel Vienna[15], and Positions Berlin Art Fair[16]. In 2014, she received the Young Creators Grant from the Mexican National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA)[17].
