Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital is a non-profit hospital located in Hetauda-6, in the Makwanpur District of Nepal’s Bagmati Province. Established in 2024 by Mountain Heart Nepal, the hospital aims to provide accessible, affordable, equitable, and sustainable healthcare to underserved populations in rural Nepal.[1]
History
[edit]The hospital was founded by a young Nepalese doctor, who was inspired by his own experiences growing up in a remote region of Nepal with limited access to healthcare. Recognizing the urgent need for medical services in Makwanpur District, particularly among indigenous communities like the Tamang and Chepang, he initiated the establishment of Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital.[2]
Services
[edit]The hospital offers a range of medical services, including:
- Outpatient Services
- Emergency Services
- Dental Services
- Diagnostic Laboratory Services
- Maternal and Child Health Services
- Pharmacy
- X-Ray Services
- ECG and Echocardiography
Sustainability Initiatives
[edit]Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital integrates sustainability into its infrastructure and operations. The hospital is powered by solar energy, reducing dependence on the national grid and operational costs. It also utilizes an on-site oxygen generation plant, which is a rare facility in the region.[3]
Community Outreach and Partnerships
[edit]Beyond clinical services, the hospital engages in various community outreach programs, including:
- Health and hygiene education for children
- Health camps
- Training local school students and community members in basic first aid, in collaboration with international partners like the University of Plymouth.[4]
Recognition and Affiliations
[edit]Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital is an associate member of the International Hospital Federation.[5]
