American opera singer

Shauna McCarthy (born May 22, 1972) is an American opera singer known for her dramatic coloratura soprano voice. She has performed at major venues, including five appearances at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, where she portrayed Vitellia[1] in La clemenza di Tito, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Manon in Manon, Lakmé in Lakmé, and Hanna Glawari in Die lustige Witwe. She also appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood under Michael Tilson Thomas for Leonard Bernstein’s 70th birthday celebration.[2] She is a recipient of the Distinguished Musician Award from the IBLA Grand Prize – Bellini International Vocal Competition.[3]

McCarthy graduated from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, where she performed with Eastman Opera Theatre.[4] She later studied with the legendary soprano Anna Moffo.
