Seth Abrutyn is a Professor of Sociology at the University of British Columbia, where he has been employed since 2017. Prior to UBC, he taught at the University of Memphis after he received his PhD from the University of California, Riverside in 2009. He identifies as a general theorist, writing theoretical papers and books on social evolution, emotions, neurosociology, and suicide. His empirical research interests have largely focused on adolescent suicide and suicide clusters.
