Ruth Hofmann (born 23 May 1986) is a German sports presenter for television and events.
Early life and education
[edit]Ruth Hofmann was born and raised in Augsburg in the region of Bavaria.[1][2] After graduating from high school, she studied sports science at the Technical University of Munich, specializing in media and communication. Her thesis focused on Live interviews with sports reporters on TV. Even during her studies, she gained experience in hosting, for example, at the training radio station M94.5 and during her year abroad in French-speaking Switzerland, where she also presented bilingually.
Television career
[edit]In 2010, Hofmann made it to the final three in a presenter casting organized by Sky, after having joined the channel as an intern. From 2012 to 2016, Hofmann worked for Sky Deutschland as a presenter and field reporter covering the first and second Bundesliga soccer matches, Formula One, and tennis with a focus on Wimbledon Championships.[3][4] From January 2014 to summer 2016, she also hosted on Sky Sport News.
In August 2016, Hofmann joined the channel Sport1,[4][5] where she hosted the top match of the second Bundesliga and the ADAC GT Masters. She also presented the program Sport1 News and co-hosted the soccer talk show STAHLWERK Doppelpass.
At the 2022 World Cup, she hosted the program Nachspielzeit on Magenta TV with Jonas Hummels at the end of the matchdays. During EURO 2024, she was once again present live as a sports presenter for Magenta TV.[6]
Singing career
[edit]In addition to her career as a presenter, Hofmann is a pop singer and writes her own songs. In January 2017, she released her debut single "Curiosity".[7] With her song "Highlight", she wrote the official song of the German 2017 World Games Teams and the theme song for the live broadcast on Sport1. In 2020, she released her first single in German titled "Goldene Zeit". She has also sung the German national anthem several times, including at the 2018 Deutsche Eishockey Liga finale and the 2019 Preis von Europa.
Private life
[edit]Hofmann has been in a relationship with Sergio Perales Caliz since 2023. In March 2025, she announced her pregnancy on the program Doppelpass. In early August 2025, she announced the birth of their son.[8]
