Roshan Pathak is an Indian casting director and animal welfare activist, primarily active in the South Indian and Hindi-language entertainment industries. Based in Mumbai and Hyderabad, he is recognized for his work on feature films, web series, and television shows across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi cinema. With over 15 years of experience, Pathak has built a reputation for identifying emerging talent and contributing to the success of critically acclaimed and commercially successful productions.[1]
Career
[edit]Pathak began his career in the Indian entertainment industry in 2008, initially working as a model coordinator before transitioning into casting. He gained early recognition through his casting work for Indian television, contributing to shows such as Jhansi Ki Rani, Crime Patrol, Aahat, and Ramayan produced by Swastik Productions.
Over the years, he expanded his work into regional and national cinema, collaborating with major production houses and filmmakers. Pathak is noted for his contributions to the casting of high-profile films including Ponniyin Selvan, Lucifer, and the K.G.F. and Baahubali franchises, either as a lead casting director or casting assistant.[2]
Animal Welfare Activities
[edit]In addition to his film career, Pathak is an active participant in animal welfare initiatives. He is affiliated with the Pure Animal Lovers (PAL) Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of stray and injured animals. He also serves as an appointed Animal Welfare Officer under the Government of Maharashtra, where he actively participates in animal rescue, awareness campaigns, and policy advocacy.
In April 2025, Pathak organized a candlelight march in Mumbai to protest against the destruction of forests and wildlife habitats in Telangana. The protest was in response to the clearing of nearly 100 acres of forest land for the construction of an IT park, which activists claimed endangered biodiversity and water reserves. The event saw participation from several animal welfare activists and highlighted the need for environmental conservation.[3][4]
