Rohit Prashar is an Indian journalist, columnist, social activist, and writer known for his work in environmental and agricultural reporting. With over a decade of experience in journalism, he has contributed extensively to covering climate change, sustainable farming, biodiversity conservation, and rural development.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Rohit Prashar holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Himachal Pradesh University and a Master’s degree in Sociology. He is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Environment and Sustainable Development from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Career
[edit]Rohit Prashar has worked with several esteemed media organizations, including Sahara Samay, MH One News, and Dainik Bhaskar. His journalism focuses on environmental sustainability, climate-resilient agriculture, and natural farming. He has reported extensively on innovative farming practices and has documented numerous farmer success stories from the Himalayan region.
In addition to his field reporting, Prashar has played a key role in developing Technology Packages of Practice for Non-Chemical Natural Farming, which promote sustainable and chemical-free agriculture. He also contributed to NITI Aayog’s Successful Farmers booklet, highlighting the achievements of farmers across India.
His investigative work has covered environmental and adventure sports events such as MTB Himalaya, Raid De Himalaya, and Run to Breathe—the world’s highest marathon—bringing attention to the fragility of the Himalayan ecosystem.
Rohit Prashar is a regular contributor to leading publications such as Down to Earth, National Herald, Tera Green, News Laundry, Carbon Copy, 101 Reporters, Divya Himachal, The Better India, YourStory, and Himachal Scape. Fellowships and Recognitions
[edit]Rohit Prashar has been a Research Fellow under TERI’s Media Fellowship for Climate Change Reporting in the Himalayan Region and a REACH Media Fellow for tuberculosis (TB) reporting. His work has extensively documented the impact of climate change on agriculture and rural livelihoods.
He has participated in the Anil Agarwal Dialogue and has been shortlisted twice for India’s prestigious Red Ink Award for Environmental and Development Journalism.
