Rodney Troy Riesel (December 27, 1964) is an American writer, primarily of Southern fiction with the mystery/detective genre.[1] His most famous works include the 24 novels and novellas written about the fictional Key West lottery winner turned amateur private detective Dan Coast. His other works include the Sunrise City Series (Fort Pierce, Florida), the Jake Stellar Series (North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina), the John Burton Series (Jensen Beach, Florida), as well as four other series. Early life and Education: Riesel, the oldest of five children, was born in Chandler, Arizona. Moving several times throughout his childhood, the family eventually settled in Herkimer (village), New York in 1976. After graduated high school in 1982, Rodney joined the family construction business where he worked until 2000[3], when he went into the restaurant business until 2004. After leaving the restaurant, Rodney returned to construction, starting his own business, R. Riesel Home Improvements. Rodney's love for the beach began in 2000 while on a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he discovered the music of Jimmy Buffett.[4]
