From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rhinotales is an independent video game development studio founded in 2017 in Kazakhstan by Artyom Slessarenko, Daniil Kodubenko, and Dmitriy Savchenko.

Origin

[edit]

The company headquarters is located in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. The studio gained recognition for its debut title, She Sees Red, an interactive thriller that allowed players to influence the outcome of a cinematic story. Originally intended as a free demo, the project evolved into a minimal-budget commercial release during development. In just ten months, Rhinotales assembled a team of over 130 people across Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, the United States, and Russia, and released the game in 22 languages on multiple platforms.[1][2]

Game development

[edit]

Since 2019, Rhinotales has been developing Critical Shift, a turn-based tactical role-playing game (RPG) with science-mystic setting.

Rhinotales is actively involved in the development of Kazakhstan's gamedev ecosystem. In 2023, the studio represented Kazakhstanat the TechCrunch[3] conference in the United States.

The team also serves as mentors at the Gamedev Center of Astana Hub, Kazakhstan's leading IT innovation HUB.

The studio is considered a pioneer[4] in the regional interactive storytelling genre and was the first in the CIS region to release an interactive thriller.
