[edit]Ramkumar Elan is an established and renowned name in Nepali journalism. Elan began his active journey in journalism in 2054 BS (1997 AD). He has gained professional experience working in various media organizations across Makwanpur, Chitwan, Kathmandu, Janakpur, and Birgunj. Presently, he serves as the Editor of Broadsheet Daily Madheshdrishti, published from Janakpur, the capital of Madhesh Province. Additionally, he holds the position of Chief Editor at Janata Television, Radio Janata 89.1 MHz, and Janata Samachar Dot Com.
Biography
[edit]Elan was born on Asar 22, 2037 BS (July 6, 1980 AD) in Takuwa, former Kalikatar Village Panchayat Ward No. 2 (now Kailash Rural Municipality Ward No. 5), Makwanpur. He is the eldest son of Govind Rijal (father) and Chandra Bartaula (mother). Currently, he is a permanent resident of Rakshirang-3, Palase, in West Makwanpur.
Journalism
[edit]Elan began his active journey in journalism in 2054 BS (1997 AD). He has gained professional experience working in various media organizations across Makwanpur, Chitwan, Kathmandu, Janakpur, and Birgunj. Presently, he serves as the Editor of Broadsheet Daily Madheshdrishti, published from Janakpur, the capital of Madhesh Province. Additionally, he holds the position of Chief Editor at Janata Television, Radio Janata 89.1 MHz, and Janata Samachar Dot Com.
Elan is also a literary writer. He has been regularly contributing articles to prestigious media houses, including Gorkhapatra Daily. He has received awards from the Nepal Government’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, Press Council Nepal, and various other organizations for his contributions to journalism and literature.
In television journalism, he has worked with Avenues News, News 24, Mountain TV, and Sagarmatha TV, and has served as a program producer and presenter for Janata Television and Nepal Television. Even today, Elan remains active in newspaper writing, editing, and literary creation. He is recognized in the Nepali journalism sphere as an influential and experienced journalist.
Literature
[edit]Elan has made significant contributions to literature. In 2070 BS (2013 AD), he published his novel "Syaulee Symphony". During the Hawai Sahitya (Underground Literature) movement of the 2050s decade, he released a ghazal collection titled "Timile Hamile Je Gare Pani Hunchha Yaar" (Whatever You and I Do, It’s Alright, Friend). At that time, he was associated with underground literary magazines like Baduli and Palans. He has also served as the President of the Hawai Sahitya Samuha Nepal (Underground Literature Group Nepal).
