Radhakrishnan Chakyat (1972 – May 22, 2025) was an Indian commercial photographer, educator, and actor, best known as the founder of the photography education platform Pixel Viilage. He was recognized for his contributions to fashion and lifestyle photography, as well as for making photography education accessible through digital media.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Born in Kochi, Kerala, Chakyat developed an early interest in visual storytelling. He pursued his education in Mumbai, where he began his career assisting renowned fashion photographer Rafique Sayed
Career
[edit]Chakyat launched his independent photography career in 2000, working with leading brands such as Cadbury, Taj Hotels, Asian Paints, Corelle, and Roca . His work was noted for its blend of emotional depth and technical proficiency.
In 2017, he founded Pixel Viilage, a YouTube channel and online platform dedicated to photography education. Through tutorials, gear reviews, and workshops, Chakyat mentored thousands of aspiring photographers across India .
Acting Career
[edit]Chakyat made his acting debut in the Malayalam film Charlie (2015), portraying the character David . He later appeared in the Hindi web series Crime Beat.
Death
[edit]Radhakrishnan Chakyat passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 53, due to a heart attack . His death was widely mourned in the photography and film communities.
Legacy
[edit]Chakyat is remembered as a visionary photographer and educator who democratized photography learning in India. His platform, Pixel Viilage, continues to inspire and educate photographers nationwide.
