R. K. Suchithan (born 23 March 1973) is an Indian film editor, visual effects (VFX) artist, and occasional actor known for his work in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema. With a strong background in visual storytelling and cinematic design, Suchithan has worked on a wide range of projects across genres and languages. His portfolio spans from commercial blockbusters to award-winning short films.
He began his professional career in the film industry as a visual effects editor and soon expanded his expertise into film editing. His editing style is noted for its rhythmic pacing and technical precision. He has been associated with some of the most visually compelling Indian films in recent years.
Suchithan gained recognition for his work on Adipurush (2023), Leo (2023), and Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 (2024). He also received the Best Editor award at the QISA Short Film Festival at Technopark for the Malayalam short film Jalam. In addition to editing, he has worked in acting and VFX supervision.
Personal life
[edit]Suchithan was born on 23 March 1973 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.[1] He married Dinasree Suchithan on 1 May 2000, and the couple has one son, Avinashchith.
Suchithan maintains a private personal life, though he occasionally shares glimpses of family moments on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Suchithan completed his schooling at the Government Higher Secondary School, Kulathur, located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He later pursued a Diploma in Computer Application and Hardware from Sree Narayana College (S.N. College), Thiruvananthapuram. This technical foundation played a key role in shaping his interest in the creative and digital aspects of the media industry, paving the way for his future career in film and production.
Career
[edit]Suchithan began his professional journey in the media and post-production industry in the mid-2000s. He has held senior editorial roles in several renowned studios across India and Malaysia, contributing to a wide range of film and television projects.
He started his career at Toonz Media Group in Trivandrum, serving as an Editor from 2005 to 2011. He then worked at KRU Studios in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, from 2012 to 2015, where he gained international experience in editing and planning animation and visual sequences.
In 2016, Suchithan joined Aries Epica in Trivandrum as a Senior Video Editor. He spent over five years there, developing his skills in post-production supervision and creative storytelling through visual media.
Since 2022, he has been working as a Senior Editor (VFX, SFX & Scene Planning) at TMEFX, a leading post-production company based in Trivandrum, Kerala. At TMEFX, he has contributed to major South Indian film projects, including:
