Perry Carpenter is an American cybersecurity professional and author. He is known for his work in the field of security awareness and human risk management, and for his role at KnowBe4, a company that provides security awareness training and phishing simulation.[1][2]

Early life and education

Carpenter holds a Master of Science degree in Information Assurance from Norwich University. He is also a Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO).[3][4]

Career

Carpenter is the Chief Human Risk Management Strategist at KnowBe4, where he focuses on the intersection of human behavior and cybersecurity risk. Before joining KnowBe4, he worked as a research analyst at Gartner, where his work covered topics related to security culture, awareness programs, and human factors in information security.[5]

He has also been involved in cybersecurity education and has spoken at conferences and industry events on topics such as social engineering, organizational security culture, and behavioral risk.[6]

Carpenter is the author of the book Transformational Security Awareness: What Neuroscientists, Storytellers, and Marketers Can Teach Us About Driving Secure Behaviors (2019).[7]

He co-authored The Security Culture Playbook: An Executive Guide to Reducing Risk and Developing Your Human Defense Layer (2022).[8]
