Pathogen is a death metal band from Prishtina, Kosovo, formed in 2022. The band is known for incorporating groovy riffs, melodic passages, and stylistic variety into their songwriting, distinguishing themselves within the Balkan underground metal scene.
History
[edit]Pathogen was formed in 2022 in Prishtina by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Art Bekolli and lead guitarist Robert Pira. The band later completed its lineup with the addition of bassist Nata Zeqiri Berisha and drummer Eduart Shala.
They began performing in local venues, quickly gaining attention for their energetic performances and stylistic range. On 16 February 2024, the band released their debut single, "Torment", via Spotify. The track marked their official introduction to the regional metal scene and was followed by a period of songwriting and live appearances.
Their debut full-length album, At the Break of Dawn, was released on 5 May 2025. The album showcased a broader musical range and established their identity as one of the prominent new acts in the regional metal landscape.[1]
Musical style
[edit]Pathogen’s sound blends elements of death metal with groovy riffing, melodic interludes, and a dynamic approach to songwriting. Their compositions often shift between aggressive and atmospheric moments, allowing for both intensity and nuance within their tracks.
