History

[edit]

Norconsult traces its roots back to 1929, when the company "Ingeniør A. B. Berdal" was established.[2] In 1989 Berdal Strømme merged with Sivilingeniør Elliot Strømme (est. 1934) to form Berdal Strømme AS. Three years later, in 1992, Berdal Strømme gained majority control of Norconsult International, and in 1998 the company changed its name to Norconsult AS.[3]

On November 10th 2023 Norconsult was noted on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Before this Norconsult was fully owned by the about 3700 employees of the company. The decision to note the company on the stock exchange was a result of a process to see how the structure of the company could be adapted to changes to Norwegian tax law. In the final vote in the process 95% of the votes were cast in favor of noting the stock.[4][5]

In December 2024 Norconsult acquired Sigma Civil[6].

In June 2025 Norconsult acquired the Aas-Jakobsen Group[7].
