NewU University is a private post-secondary institution.[1] in Washington, DC. As of March 12, 2025, NewU University is "progressing toward, but is not assured of, accreditation" through Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The school currently has 5 faculty members[2] and 34 students enrolled[3] in degree programs.
The school's first students were accepted in 2022[4], boasting fixed tuition rates for each student and the ability to earn a bachelors degree in three years. With the startup focused on academics, the institution does not offer student housing or extracurricular athletics and activities[4].
NewU also proposed a charter school designed to merge high school and college coursework, with students earning 80 college credits by the end of 12th grade and completing their bachelor's degree with one additional year of study[5]. The proposal was accepted by the DC Public Charter School Board on May 19, 2025 and is open for public comment[6]
