Early Life and Education

At the age of 17 years old, Neer Patel started his own nonprofit organization by the name of Atlas Health Equity Group. He started this organization with one key idea in mind: to make healthcare accessible to all people. Through Atlas Health Equity Group, he is dedicated to changing systematic inequalities to make healthcare accessible to all. But his love for medicine does not just stop there. Getting elected to lead over 5,000 members in Missouri HOSA—Future Health Professionals, Neer Patel serves as the 2024-2025 Vice President of Membership. Serving as a state officer for HOSA, he has been delegated the task of hosting various conferences that shape aspiring healthcare professionals into healthcare leaders. Neer is also an American medical researcher, having researched under Dr. Cuthbert Simpkins at the UMKC School of Medicine.

Career and Research

Patel, at the young age of 17, collaborated with Dr. Cuthbert Ormond Simpkins, a renowned physician and inventor known for his work in shock treatment and violence prevention. Under Dr. Simpkins' mentorship, Patel contributed to research focusing on phospholipid nanoparticle technology aimed at treating septic shock and hemorrhagic shock. Conducting various surgeries on rats, Patel was given the task of testing the effects of different amino acids on blood coagulation times for Dr. Simpkins drugs VBI-S and VBI-1. This innovative approach involved using nanoparticles to modulate nitric oxide levels in the bloodstream, thereby improving blood pressure and organ function in critically ill patients. Patel has also worked with Dr. Richard Frye from the Autism Discovery and Treatment Foundation in Phoenix, Arizona, to write a paper on The Emerging Role of Artificial Intelligence in Postnatal Diagnosis and Management of Down Syndrome. Writing a systematic review alongside Arjun Puri, Patel has made tremendous advancements in the realm of artificial intelligence in healthcare.

Atlas Health Equity Group

In addition to his research endeavors, Neer Patel is the founder and chairman of the Atlas Health Equity Group, a nonprofit organization committed to addressing healthcare disparities and promoting equitable access to medical resources. The organization engages in community-based healthcare initiatives and policy advocacy to bridge gaps in medical accessibility for underserved populations. Under Patel’s leadership, Atlas Health Equity Group was able to launch a Naloxone campaign in the state of Missouri, in efforts to make Naloxone more accessible to the public. Through Atlas, Patel has given away over a hundred thousand dollars' worth of Naloxone to communities that need it the most in Kansas City, Missouri. Every day, Patel works with policymakers from across the United States to make healthcare more accessible. Patel has testified in front of both state and national congress multiple times regarding healthcare.

Leadership and Advocacy

Patel served as the Missouri HOSA Vice President of Membership from 2024 to 2025, promoting student involvement in health sciences. HOSA serves as the biggest student-led career technical organization in the world with over 300,000. Serving as a state officer for Missouri, Patel collaborated with individuals from across the world to shape young individuals into leaders of the industry. Traveling across the United States to Washington, D.C., Patel spoke at the House of Representatives and Senate regarding increasing funding for CTSO organizations to give every student an equal chance at success.

Patel is in the publishing stage of his paper and has already begun work on the use of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis and management of autism spectrum disorders.
