Mixmups is a British animated children's television series and show created by deaf television writer and producer Rebecca Atkinson that premiered on Channel 5's Milkshake! on 4th November, 2023. It follows the day-to-day, larger-than-life adventures of three spirited pre-school friends, Pockets, Giggle, & Spin, who live in a helter-skelter house in Mixington Valley (which show creator Rebecca says was inspired by Great Yarmouth)[1] and come together as the Mixmups, employing their magical wooden spoon and mixing box to 'Mix up the Magic' of play and their imaginations, transporting themselves on a host of hilarious adventures. It is Channel 5's first animated pre-school series to feature disabled lead characters and be made by a team with lived experience of disability.[2] The series is scheduled to launch on TVO in Canada on 24th February, 2024 and on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), RTÉ (Ireland), Knowledge Network (Canada) throughout 2024. British Film Institute (BFI) and a team of its curators selected Mixmups as one of their best British TV shows of 2023.[3]
