Comment: None of the citations are reliable secondary sources. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 17:46, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Almost entirely unreferenced – where does all this information come from, and how do we know any of it is true? DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:10, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Make sure to add more references before resubmitting. Hitro talk 12:20, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Please remove all inline external links, they are not allowed. Convert them to inline citations instead, where relevant; see WP:REFB for advice on this. DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:40, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
Comment: A single source, esp. one that doesn't really verify anything in this draft, is nowhere near enough to support the content or to establish notability. DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:39, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

Mekkarai[1] and Achanpudur Villages has been given to the Tamil Nadu from Kerala in November 1956. The historical name of the village Achanpudur is from the temple AchanKovil at Kerala nearest 20 Km from Mekkarai Village. Mekkarai is a tourist hill village comes under Achanputhur Panchayat in Sengottai Taluk of Tenkasi District, Tamil Nadu. This village comes under the revenue village jurisdiction of the Sengottai Sub-Registrar Office. Mekkarai village lies near the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Agriculture is the primary occupation in the Mekkarai region. Crops such as paddy, coconut, and banana are cultivated here. Out of a total of 3,500 acres of land, 2,500 acres have direct irrigation facilities for paddy cultivation.
Although people of different religions and communities—Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and Hill Tribe people—live in this village, everyone lives together in unity, disregarding caste and religious differences.
Being naturally scenic and located along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, Mekkarai is a tourist hill village attracting thousands of visitors every day during peak seasons. On weekends, tourists from southern districts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala also visit the area.
In Mekkarai village, the Anuman River, Thenpaari River, and Erumaichaadi Streams flow. These rivers and streams are about 20 feet wide. They originate from the Western Ghats and flow through Mekkarai, Achchanputhur, Idaikal, Sampooar Vadakarai, Surandai, and V.K. Puthur, travelling up to 50 kilometres before joining a small stream. These two rivers have the special feature of flowing with water throughout the year.
At a place called Gurumunivan Pudai, there is the Sri Agastiya Navagraha Temple where Vanamaga Ganapathi and the nine planetary deities (Navagrahas) are located in the same place. This temple is about 2 kilometers uphill from Mekkarai.
At the Tamil Nadu border of Mekkarai village, there is the Kottaivasal Karuppasamy Temple, which is a very ancient temple. A festival is celebrated here during the Tamil month of Thai.
In the center of Mekkarai village, there is the Boothathar Temple, surrounded by four ancient trees.
