Matthew Osborne (born 10 June 2003) is an Welsh rugby union player who plays as a Scrum-half for National 1 club Darlington Mowden Park.[3]
Early life and education
[edit]Osborne was born in Darlington, England, and grew up in the surrounding area. He was educated at Barnard Castle School, a school with a strong rugby tradition. During his time at school, he represented Wales at age-grade level, qualifying through heritage and impressing in regional development pathways.
After completing his A Levels, Osborne moved to Wales to attend Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he studied Business. In his first appearance for the university rugby team, he suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for over a year. He returned to full fitness in his final year and signed with Glamorgan Wanderers RFC, marking the start of his senior club career.
Club career
[edit]Osborne played for Glamorgan Wanderers RFC during the 2023–24 WRU Championship season, impressing in the Welsh second tier with his control of the game and tactical kicking. Following his graduation from university, he returned to his hometown and signed for Darlington Mowden Park R.F.C. ahead of their 2024–25 National League 1 campaign in England’s third tier.
