Mani Mahesh Aurora (born February 9, 1993 in Jammu & Kashmir, India) is an Indian social entrepreneur, life design coach, author, and former journalist whose work spans responsible tourism, rural regeneration, cultural preservation, and grassroots leadership. With a career rooted in both media and mission-driven enterprise, he has empowered communities through sustainable development models in the Indian Himalayas. He is the founder of Impact Investors, a platform promoting equity through climate-resilient livelihoods, and the co-founder of The Goat Village and Bakri Chhap Natural Products Pvt. Ltd., initiatives that have revived abandoned villages by blending agroforestry, cultural restoration, and eco-tourism into viable economic ecosystems.

Early Life and Education

Mani Mahesh began his media career at the age of 11, contributing to All India Radio. He later earned a graduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, and holds certifications in Radio Broadcasting, Leadership Coaching from the Academy for Coaching Excellence (California), and Design Thinking from HASERA Institute, Nepal.

Career

Journalism and Media

Mani Mahesh worked with leading Indian media houses including India Today, The Times of India, and Reliance BIG FM, where he served as an on-air presenter. His writings have been published in The Times of India, and he has been featured in national and international platforms for his views on rural development, social entrepreneurship, and responsible tourism.

Social Entrepreneurship

In 2016, at the age of 23, Mani Mahesh quit his promising media career to co-found The Goat Village and Bakri Chhap, initiatives that helped revive abandoned Himalayan villages by promoting agro-tourism and sustainable farming. These ventures catalyzed a significant rise in rural incomes, sparked reverse migration of farmers, and advanced ecotourism development. His work contributed to a 75-fold increase in tourism footfall, a 4x rise in land value, and a 5x growth in villagers’ savings.

In 2021, he launched Impact Investors, a purpose-driven collective aimed at fostering economic equity through indigenous knowledge, climate resilience, and community-based enterprises.

Author

Mani Mahesh is the author of Ten Ways in Which India is Leading the World. He is also writing a children's book on responsible tourism, scheduled for release on World Tourism Day in September 2025 through Bare Bones Publishing.[1]

Public Recognition

In 2023, Mani Mahesh was awarded the Sustainability Champions – Grassroots Heroes award at the Indian Responsible Tourism Awards by the Outlook Group. His initiative The Goat Village won the Gold Award at the World Responsible Tourism Awards in London (2019). He was also featured on national billboards and in Meta’s Fuel for India campaign as a brand ambassador for social innovation.

Public Speaking and Academia

Aurora has lectured at IIT Roorkee, Jai Hind College, Chitkara University, WWF, and Dhurakij Pundit University (Bangkok), among other institutions, on topics including life design, entrepreneurship, responsible tourism, and climate leadership.
