Lutfor Rahaman (born July 25, 1973) is a renowned contemporary Bengali author and novelist from West Bengal, India. He is known for his thought-provoking and nuanced prose that explore the human condition, social justice, and the cultural identity of rural subalterns.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Born in the village Bisnupur, Nadia, Lutfor was second among the six siblings. Though being a meritorious boy he faced immense hardship to continue higher education due to poverty. After passing the higher secondary examination from Chakdaha Ramlal Academy[1] he obtained the degree of Pharmacist.
Literary Career
[edit]Lutfor started writing stories at a very early age and his first collection of short stories 'Nishipaloner Prohorey'[2][3] was published from Camp Publication, Kolkata in 1997. The unique stories written at the age of just 21 made him overnight sensation in the Kolkata literary circuit and denoted him as a successor of renowned cult Bengali literary figures like Manik Bandopadhyay, Akhtaruzzaman Elias.
