Lucian “Luke” Bond Uva is a multi sport athlete from Montclair, NJ. He was born March 14, 2013 in Manhattan, New York, New York to JC Uva and Elizabeth Rich, before his birth, his older brother Edward Uva. Uva had a very calm and relaxed childhood which he spent with friends, play video games, and outside. For most of his life, Uva was very into video games such as Roblox, but eventually got into History and Military related topics after learning more about WW2 and his veteran great grandfather. For a long period of time, Uva didn’t play any sports until 3rd grade when he joined Montclair Little League Baseball Team, the Timber Rattlers where he would play his entire 3rd Grade year. After that year, Uva stayed away from sports other than baseball, until one day he began playing soccer at school and fell in love with the sport, he would go on to join a recreational team in Montclair where he would play Defense and Midfield. Uva also joined a separate Baseball team known as the Muckdogs in 4th grade. Uva would continue on to peruse soccer through the years before trying out of Club Team Montclair United in the 5th grade. Uva got rejected from the club team which resulted in him retiring from soccer all together after a final trial with PSA. Uva would carry on with baseball, joining the Montclair Padres in the little league program. Around this period of time, Uva began to find out about the sport Rugby, slowly gaining interest over time after research. He would go on to join his local flag team in 2024, the Montclair Blues where he would thrive for that season. After his flag season finished, he would begin to play American football for a local team known as the Bulldogs. Despite Uva’s lack of experience, he still showed phenomenal effort on the offensive line where he would thrive until suffering an Asthma Attack in September of 2024 which would hospitalize him. After leaving the hospital, Uva was restricted from athletics of any kind for a long period of time, but upon returning to football, his team had gotten even better, he played very hard on his games back and the team would make the state playoffs with a 4-4-1 record after upsetting Powerhouse team Pope John. The Bulldogs would be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs the the East Orange Bengals, but Uva did recover a fumble by the Bengals during that match. After the football season ended, Uva went into wrestling where he would play novice and end with a mediocre record of 2-4. After his wrestling, Uva finally decided to join tackle Rugby, and after lots of research and potential teams, he landed on the Morristown Lions. Uva would begin his indoor practices, not knowing much about the sport but slowly improving over time, he began to move outside and became loved by his team. Uva would play his first match on the u12 Tackle Team for Morris Rugby, suffering a loss but Uva scoring on his debut. After the preseason defeat, the lions would travel to Union suffering a loss but a hard fought battle. Going into the 3rd match, the lions were 0-2 and Uva had only one try, but he played hard against Franklin rugby, giving the team their first win and Uva two tries during the match. In the 4th match, Uva would play both U12 and U14 matches against Union Rugby but would end up losing both matches. In the 5th and final regular season match, Uva would play Franklin once again and would beat the side again with Uva getting a try by breaking down the side of the field. After these matches, Morris Rugby had progressed into the State Championships where they would first play Jersey Shore Rugby in the Semi Finals, but would unfortunately lose to them after a near comeback, and upon playing Franklin in their 3rd place match, they would unfortunately lose the match and placed 4th in the state tournament, even though they placed this low they still had a great season. Later after the State Championships, Uva would be chosen for the Spirit of the Lion award for the U12 rugby boys ending the season with a trophy under his belt as a rookie. Uva currently resides with his family in Montclair NJ.
