Loh Ban Ho (born 25 May 1971) is a Malaysian businessman and real estate developer known for his involvement to the heritage property restoration and infrastructure development in Ipoh, Perak. He is the fourth-generation owner of a family business[1] dating back over a century and is known for his work with Mansion Builders Sdn Bhd, a key developer in the region. Mansion Builders Sdn Bhd, a respected construction and property development company based in Perak. Loh is also the member of various industry organizations, including the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (霹靂中華總商會), Chairman of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA) Perak Branch[2], and the Board of Engineers Malaysia[3].
Early Life and Career
[edit]Loh comes from a family that has operated a business in Ipoh for over 100 years, Loh’s family business initially focused on industries such as tin and iron galvanizing[4], evolving over time into the real estate sector. Loh took over operations of the business and e expanded the company’s role in property development and construction within Perak.
Notable Projects
[edit]Alongside his father and co-founder Loh Joon Swee, Loh Ban Ho established Mansion Builders Sdn Bhd[5]. The company was established by both individuals. The company has undertaken several developments, including Choong Min School in Teluk Intan, Full Gospel Assembly (FGA) 太平全备福音堂 in Taiping, and the 1st Valley double-storey terrace houses in Daerah Kinta, Perak[6]. Mansion Builders Sdn Bhd has also been involved in large-scale projects such as Mansion Builders Sdn Bhd the First Square @ Falim[7], a mixed-use development that includes a 4-star hotel with an infinity pool, a sports complex with 25 courts[8], and 50 commercial units, making it a landmark in Ipoh.
Additionally, Loh has supported initiatives aimed at preserving heritage sites and modern real estate development, transforming Ban Loong Hotel, a 102-year-old family-owned property, into a boutique heritage hotel that preserves the building's history while incorporating modern designs.[1]. The hotel, located on Jalan Bandar Timah, serves as a testament to the blend of historical preservation and innovative design that Loh advocates for in Ipoh's urban development[1]
Recognition and Achievements
[edit]Loh Ban Ho has received recognition for his work in the construction and real estate sectors. In 2012, Loh received the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Award from the Construction Development Industry Board (CIDB) Malaysia under sub-company 1st Builders Sdn Bhd[6][9]. In 2015, he was listed among the Top 10 New Generation Property Developers in Malaysia.
