Early life and education

Lima Jamir

was born on 15 August 1983 in Mokokchung, a cultural and intellectual hub in the Indian state of Nagaland. During his early childhood, his family relocated to Dimapur. There, Lima completed his schooling at Holy Cross School.

Following his high school education, Lima moved to Shillong, Meghalaya, where he pursued his undergraduate studies. It was during these formative years that his interest in visual storytelling and creative expression began to deepen.

Journey into Photography

[edit]

After graduation, Lima began to explore the world of photography more seriously. Inspired by global photography influencers like Tony North, he delved into the craft with a strong desire to understand both the technical and artistic aspects of image-making.

To refine his skills, he undertook an offline professional photography course taught by Karl Taylor, a renowned international commercial photographer and educator. The course was instrumental in shaping Lima’s command over lighting techniques, an area in which he would later become highly proficient.

From this point forward, Lima's approach to photography became increasingly refined and technically sound—especially in the areas of studio lighting, portrait composition, and creative fashion shoots. His growing expertise with lighting became a signature element of his photographic style, setting him apart within the regional creative industry.
