This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject. Declined by Gheus 53 days ago. | ![]() |

This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Jovanmilic97 6 months ago. | ![]() |

Overview
[edit]LRQA is a British assurance, inspection and cybersecurity company based in Birmingham, England. It provides certification, inspection, verification and advisory services for organisations in sectors such as food and beverage, retail, hospitality, renewable energy, transport, technology, telecommunications and financial services.
History
[edit]The business began in 1984 (officially incorporated in 1985) as Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance, a unit of the maritime classification society Lloyd’s Register.[1] LRQA was previously part of Lloyd’s Register’s Business Assurance and Inspection Services division.
In June 2021 Lloyd’s Register agreed to sell its Business Assurance and Inspection Services division, including LRQA, to funds managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management for about £550 million.[2] [3][4]
Leadership
[edit]On 24 August 2023 LRQA announced the appointment of former ELEVATE founder Ian Spaulding as chief executive officer, effective 1 September 2023.[5] [6]
In July 2024, the trade magazine Supply Chain Digital published a feature on Spaulding’s “Assurance 4.0” agenda, which sought to combine digital risk insights with traditional certification services.[7]
Operations and services
[edit]LRQA’s core business areas include certification, inspection, cybersecurity and specialised ESG assurance.
LRQA certifies organisations to international management-system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001. It also conducts third-party inspection of industrial assets and provides penetration-testing and advisory work through its cybersecurity unit.[8][9][10]
The company also carries out supply-chain auditing and ESG-verification work; a 2023 Financial Times Moral Money Forum report on forced-labour risk cited LRQA’s audit data when analysing transparency gaps in global supply chains.[11] LRQA also provides sector-specific assurance services; at the 2025 Global Food Safety Initiative conference the company presented data-driven analytics for food-safety programmes.[12]
Acquisitions
[edit]Between 2022 and 2025 LRQA carried out a series of acquisitions including ELEVATE, a Hong Kong-based ESG and supply-chain assessment company acquired in January 2022.[13]
In February 2025 the company announced it had added “five global risk specialists”, including quality-management software provider Core Business Solutions, to its portfolio.[14]
During the same period LRQA also absorbed several other firms, including Australian sustainability auditor Sustainable Assurance Solutions (July 2022), London-based human-rights consultancy Ergon Associates (October 2024), corporate carbon-management specialist RESET Carbon (January 2025) and Canadian advisory firm StepUp Solutions (February 2025) according to trade-press reports.[15][16][17][18]
