Konecta is a Spanish multinational company that provides customer experience (CX) and digital services. Headquartered in Madrid, it serves clients in industries such as telecommunications, banking, insurance, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, public sector, energy, and utilities. The company operates in 26 countries and employs over 120,000 people.

History

[edit]

Konecta was founded in 1999 by José María Pacheco in Spain. In December 2015, Banco Santander and PAI Partners jointly acquired Konecta, each holding a 50% stake, to accelerate its growth and implement a buy-and-build strategy focused on Spain and Latin America.[1] In March 2019, Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) acquired Konecta from Santander and PAI for $799 million.[2][3]

In 2022, Konecta merged with Italian firm Comdata, doubling in size and forming one of the largest CX service providers globally.[4]

In 2024, the company raised €150 million and in January 2025 launched "Katalyst 2028," a strategic three-year plan focused on digital transformation, GenAI, Agentic AI integration, and global expansion.[5]

Operations and expansion

[edit]

Konecta offers services in customer and employee engagement, digital transformation, sales support, and back-office operations. It employs technologies such as AI, GenAI, automation, and cloud computing.[6]

The company operates over 180 delivery sites across Europe, Latin America, and Africa. In 2025, it launched its regional headquarters in Egypt, supported by Egypt’s ITIDA and a $100 million investment.[7]

Konecta provides internal AI and GenAI training programs to upskill its workforce. In April 2024, Nourdine Bihmane was appointed Group CEO. He spearheads the Katalyst 2028 initiative and is also President of Les Entretiens de l’Excellence, promoting social mobility among underprivileged youth.[8][9]

In 2024, Konecta was named one of the best places to work in Romania, Albania, Peru, Morocco, and Argentina.[10]

Corporate social responsibility

[edit]

Konecta implements CSR programs through the Konecta Foundation, established in 2005, focusing on employment inclusion, digital training, and partnerships with educational institutions and NGOs. It has supported inclusive employment for autistic individuals[11] and migrant communities.[12]

Environmental initiatives include carbon footprint reduction and recycling partnerships in Colombia. The company adheres to governance principles including anti-corruption and equal opportunity policies.
