Ko Sohyun (Korean: 고소현) is a South Korean violinist.
Life and education
[edit]Ko was born on April 13, 2006.[1] Considered a child prodigy from a young age, Ko first began playing the violin at the age of three.[2][3] At the age of eight, she first gained public recognition after performing with an antique violin, which was manufactured in 1735 by Andreas Ferdinand Meyer and was owned by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, at the Westin Chosun Hotel and later the the Mozart-Wohnhaus in Salzburg.[4][5] In 2016, she performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins at the Seongnam Arts Center with Pinchas Zukerman at the age of ten, who praised her talent as something which “cannot be put into words”.[6]
During her mentorship under Zukerman, she performed at the Cadogan Hall in London in 2018 and has enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music.[5][7]
