Founded in the year 1952 in October, five years after the establishment of the university, the KNUST College of Engineering (CoE) has shown a remarkable reputation in the delivery of quality education and the workforce needed to foster technological innovations in Ghana and Africa as a whole.[1] [2]As one of the six colleges of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi,Ghana, it has grown and expanded and has 18 disciplines in the undergraduate level and 20 MSc programmes together with other MPhil and PhD programmes[3] offered by the various faculties. Many well-known individuals in and out of the country, including the likes of Prof. Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko, who happens to be the PROVOST for the college.[4]

In terms of graduate studies, the CoE has collaborated with the KNUST school of graduate studies in offering Masters programmes in Renewable Energy Technologies, Water Resources Engineering and Management, water supply and Environmental Sanitation, Electrical Power Systems, Agro-Environmental Engineering, Bioengineering, and food and Post-Harvest Engineering. The College has two main Research Centres, namely the Technology Consultancy Center (TCC) and the Energy Center (TEC).[4]

The College of Engineering has developed over the past decades and currently has three (3) faculties with eleven (11) departments.[4] Below are the faculties and departments for the CoE:

The College currently offers 18 programmes at the undergraduate level; this includes Civil Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Material Engineering.[8] [4]Also, there are about fifty-five (55) graduate programmes offered by the college at the post graduate level of study.
