KB Securities is a South Korean securities and investment banking company based in Seoul. It is one of eleven wholly owned subsidiaries of KB Financial Group, the company’s business activities are organized into three segments: Wealth Management, Investment Banking, and Sales and Trading. As of the end of 2024, it operated 80 domestic branches and maintained overseas offices in New York, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, and Shanghai. Its total assets were reported at KRW 63.4 trillion, with annual revenue of KRW 10.8 trillion..[1]

  • 1962: Kookil Securities [2] is founded in Seoul, South Korea. (Predecessor to Hyundai Securities and later KB Securities)
  • 1977: Kookil Securities is acquired by Hyundai Group
  • 1986: Kookil Securities is renamed to Hyundai Securities
  • 1995: Hannuri Investment Securities is established
  • 2008: KB Financial Group acquires Hannuri Securities in November 2007 and renames to KB Investment & Securities in March 2008[3]

KB Securities provides capital market services, connecting international institutional investors with South Korea’s financial markets. Serving over 500 global clients, the firm offers differentiated access to domestic equities and fixed income instruments, and select offshore investments, including alternatives.

It acts as a strategic bridge between global capital and the Korean market. It facilitates foreign institutional investment in Korean equities, executes cross-border equity trades on behalf of domestic clients, and distributes offshore alternative funds through an expanding global network.

The firm also provides top-down macroeconomic analysis and thematic investment insights. It regularly publishes weekly investor notes, annual flagship reports, and bottom-up sales commentaries tailored to dynamic global market conditions.

KB Securities offers a range of services to global and domestic hedge funds. Its integrated platform supports margin financing, securities lending and borrowing (SBL), prime custody, capital introductions, and OTC execution, cross-asset trading with institutional-grade operational support. [7]

Hong Kong: KB Securities Hong Kong Ltd. is a fully licensed subsidiary in Hong Kong. Its business areas include equity sales, M&A financing, and debt capital markets

United States: KBFG Securities America Inc. is located in New York. The company engages in equity and fixed income trading, as well as introducing brokerage services. [8]

Vietnam: KB Securities Vietnam Joint Stock Company is headquartered in Hanoi, with branches in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The company has over 400 employees and provides brokerage services to both individual and institutional clients. [9]

Indonesia: KB Valbury Sekuritas is headquartered in Jakarta and operates branches in 14 locations across Indonesia. Its business areas include underwriting, broker-dealer services, and fund distribution. [10]

Partnerships

Jefferies Group:KB Securities has a co-brand alliance with Jefferies Group for equity research, sales, and trading in South Korea. Through this partnership, Jefferies Asia distributes KB Securities’ Korea research globally, while KB Securities provides local equity brokerage services to Jefferies and its clients. [12]

Blackstone: In 2024, KB Securities signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Blackstone to establish a comprehensive business partnership.[13]
