This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Comment: Being the Vice President and Executive Director of the Nemours Estate does not make her notable. Fails to establish what she is notable for. Dan arndt (talk) 01:57, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
Jean Hershner is an American museum professional and non-profit executive. She currently serves as the Vice President and Executive Director of the Nemours Estate in Wilmington, Delaware, and is noted for her leadership in transforming the historic property's public engagement model. Her career and innovative approach to museum management have been detailed in regional media coverage.[1]
Career and Education
[edit]Hershner's career in the non-profit sector began while she worked part-time as a tour guide at Ash Lawn-Highland, the home of former President James Monroe, near Charlottesville, Virginia.[1] Her work includes positions with local, statewide, and national organizations, such as the York County History Center (York, Pennsylvania) and Preservation Pennsylvania.
She joined the staff of Nemours Estate in 2018 and rose to her current position in January 2021.[1] Hershner has focused on shifting the estate’s operations to a new public engagement model, emphasizing expanded public access and reducing the number of roped-off areas.[2] She has publicly discussed her focus on better engaging the public and highlighting the legacy of the property's founder, Alfred I. du Pont.[1] Under her leadership, the Nemours Estate received the inaugural Making an Impact Award from the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums for its community programming.[3]
Hershner holds dual advanced degrees: a Master of Arts (M.A.) in American Studies from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University.[1] She stated that pursuing both degrees simultaneously was motivated by the understanding that "to run a historical organization I would have to be able to talk to an accountant and a curator" to effectively manage an organization.[1] She received the Joel Sater Award for Creative Achievement in American Studies from Penn State and the Harold C. Howard Servant Leader Award from Eastern University.[4]
Personal Life
[edit]As the executive of the Nemours Estate, Jean Hershner resides on the historic property. Outside of her professional duties, she is noted as enjoying reading and traveling, particularly to visit her two grown children.[4]
