Draft:Interprivacy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Interprivacy is an international standard developed through the European research programme. It is maintained by the European Centre for Certification and Privacy (ECCP) and made freely available to qualified certification bodies.[1]

Interprivacy is designed to certify compliance with key obligations of some major personal data protection regulations, such as:[2]

  • The EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF)
  • The Global CBPR Framework and APEC Privacy Framework
  • The ASEAN Framework on Personal Data Protection
  • The African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection, also known as the Malabo Convention
  • Personal Data Protection Standards for Ibero-American States

Interprivacy has been formally approved by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), and any of the 95 national accreditation bodies of the IAF can grant accreditation to use the scheme.[3]

While it aligns with the foundational standards and approach of the European Data Protection Seal under Art. 42 of the GDPR, Interprivacy is intentionally designed to be geographically neutral.[2] Organizations can use its criteria to document, demonstrate, and certify their compliance with core data protection requirements across multiple regions, fostering mutual recognition among different privacy standards.[4]
