InsuranceDekho is an Indian insurtech company based in Gurugram, Haryana. It was founded in 2017 under the CarDekho Group and operates as a licensed insurance broker regulated by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). The company provides a digital platform for comparing and purchasing insurance policies across motor, health, life, travel, and commercial categories. As of 2025, InsuranceDekho partners with over 45 insurers and maintains a network of more than 220,000 point-of-sale agents across India.[1][2]

History

[edit]

InsuranceDekho was founded in 2017 by Ankit Agrawal, Ish Babbar, and Amit Jain as part of GirnarSoft, the parent of CarDekho.[3] It began within the auto-insurance vertical of CarDekho and received an IRDAI broker license in December 2017.[4]

InsuranceDekho expanded via POSP agents into Tier‑2 and Tier‑3 cities, boosting agent counts significantly by 2023—a trend noted in major media.[5]

In May 2025, InsuranceDekho merged with RenewBuy through a share-swap, forming a ₹7,400 crore (~$890 million) insurtech entity aimed at expanding distribution reach.[6][7]

Services

[edit]

InsuranceDekho enables users to compare and purchase insurance policies—motor, health, life, travel, and commercial—from multiple insurers via an online portal or agent network.[8][9]

In August 2024, the company launched **Heph**, a SaaS platform for distributors—offering API integrations, policy management, and analytics to agents, banks, NBFCs, and others.[10][11]

Funding

[edit]

InsuranceDekho has raised approximately $394 million across six funding rounds.[12] In February 2023, it secured $150 million in a Series A round led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and TVS Capital Funds.[13]

In March 2025, it raised $70 million in a round co-led by MUFG and BNP Paribas Cardif’s insurtech fund.[14]

Leadership

[edit]

Ankit Agrawal, co‑founder and CEO, previously led insurance initiatives at CarDekho.[15] In 2023, Vivek Aggarwal became CBO and Navneet Bhatt became CGO.[16]

Industry Recognition

[edit]

InsuranceDekho was certified as a "Great Place to Work" in 2024 by the Great Place to Work Institute.[17]
