iOS 26 will be the nineteenth and the next major release of Apple's iOS operating system for the iPhone. It will be announced in June 2025, at the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).^[1] It is the direct of successor to iOS 18 and will be announced alongside iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, visionOS 26, and tvOS 26.

Starting from this version of iOS, Apple will be changing its numbering convention for consistency across all operating systems.^[2]

New features and Changes

User interface

For the first time since iOS 7, the user interface will be redesigned, using icons and menus with increased uses of transparency similar to macOS releases since Big Sur, while the icons will be updated with a circular shape similar to VisionOS.

Apple intelligence

Battery intelligence

In iOS 26, apple announced that battery intelligence, an AI battery management feature.^[3]

Google Gemini integration

iOS 26 also adds a Google gemini intergration. It has been said that it would integrate with Siri and writing tools like ChatGPT in iOS 18^[3]

New Translate Languages

iOS 26 adds 12 new languages to translate to expand the language support.

Shortcuts

In the shortcuts app, iOS 26 has a redesigned shortcuts app, which integrates Apple intelligence^[3]

Games

Apple has a pre-installed app called “Games”, which will replace the Game Center^[3]

AirPods Live Translate

iOS 26 will allow the AirPods to translate in-person conversations from one language to another. For example: An English speaker with AirPods is speaking with someone who is speaking Spanish, the ‌iPhone‌ will detect the audio, translate the speech, and relay it back in English to the AirPods person who speaks English.^[3]
