HEX HAUS is a collaborative initiative founded by media artists Anže Sekelj and Staš Vrenko. HEX instruments stem from authors' concepts and experiences in developing artistic tools and multimedia installations, aiming at creating didactic, portable and intuitive electronic devices that cross the boundaries of music-making, play and education.
The instruments created under HEX HAUS are designed to be portable, sustainable, and accessible to people of all ages and skill levels. Each device features 100% replaceable components, promoting the right to repair, ease of assembly, and long-term usability. Their design combines straightforward usability for beginners with advanced functionality for professionals.
HEX HAUS regularly hosts workshops and educational events where participants are introduced to DIY technology and principles of sound synthesis, combining a hands-on approach with artistic expression.
The project and its instruments have received attention from the international media and electronic music communities. HEX HAUS has been featured in publications such as Synth Anatomy,[1] Happy Mag,[2] and Matrixsynth.[3] It has been exhibited at events including Berlin Design Week[4] and Sónar Festival.[5] In 2025, HEX HAUS won the prestigious A' Design Award for their instrument HEX cor.[6]
