Hell Motel is a Canadian horror anthology television series created by Aaron Martin and Ian Carpenter, known for their work on the Slasher franchise.[1] The series premiered on Shudder and AMC+ on June 17, 2025, with a two-episode debut, followed by weekly releases on Tuesdays.[2] [3]

Premise

[edit]

Set in the newly renovated Cold River Motel, the series follows a group of ten true crime enthusiasts invited to the motel's reopening weekend. The location is infamous for a 30-year-old unsolved satanic mass murder. As the guests become stranded, they are targeted in a series of killings that escalate in brutality, mirroring the original massacre.[4]

Cast and Characters

[edit]
  • Eric McCormack as Hemmingway, a chef with a sinister flair.
  • Paula Brancati as Paige, a former scream queen aiming to revive her stalled career.
  • Shaun Benson as Crow, a new-age medium connected to the massacre's victims.
  • Atticus Mitchell as Blake, a true crime writer and survivor of a previous mass killing.
  • Emmanuel Kabongo as Kawayan, an artist fixated on murder.
  • Jim Watson as Andy, an academic specializing in contemporary true crime studies.
  • Genevieve DeGraves as Adriana, a flight attendant attracted to notorious serial killers.
  • Icesis Couture as Magenta, a stylish real estate agent involved in selling the motel.
  • Brynn Godenir as Ruby, one of the new owners of the Cold River Motel.
  • Michelle Nolden as Portia, co-owner of the motel alongside Ruby.

Production

[edit]

Hell Motel is produced by Shaftesbury in association with Hollywood Suite, with financial participation from the Bell Fund. AMC Networks holds distribution rights. The series is directed by Adam MacDonald, known for Backcountry and Pyewacket. Martin and Carpenter serve as executive producers alongside Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Thomas P. Vitale, and MacDonald.[5]
