History
[edit]Groupe Touchette was founded in 1979[1][2] in Montréal under the name Pneus André Touchette Inc. The company’s founder, André Touchette, officially launched the business that year by renting a former grocery store located at the corner of Gounod and Lajeunesse streets in Montréal, which he named “Entrepôt de pneus ouvert au public,” meaning “tire warehouse open to the public.”[3]
The company is now owned by Nicolas Touchette, André's son, and Frédéric Bouthillier. The two childhood friends, both originally from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, began working in the family business in 1993 at the age of 16 and took over leadership of Groupe Touchette around 2015.[3] As of 2025, the company employs over 1,800 employees.[4]
Groupe Touchette supplies automotive dealerships under its TireLink banner and tire retailers under its DT Tire banner[3], including locations within their own network such as Ici Pneu, Pneu Solutions, Pneu Select, MécaniPneu, Pneus Chartrand Mécanique, Pneus Express Mécanique, Integra, Pneus Bélisle and TireCraft. Following a recent agreement with OK Tire, Groupe Touchette now also manages tire supply for all OK Tire and OK Auto Service stores across the country.[5]
Operations and expansion
[edit]Groupe Touchette operates a national network of distribution centres and warehouses across Canada. In February 2024 it acquired land near Winnipeg, Manitoba at CentrePort Canada to construct an additional 112,000-square-foot facility.[6]
In November 2018, the company acquired Atlas Tire Wholesale Inc., a distributor with strong presence in Ontario. The move increased storage capacity and extended operations into Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. [7][8]
In May 2021 Groupe Touchette acquired Pneus Chartrand Distribution Inc. and related assets, expanding its Québec operations via the integration of seven branches in the province. [9]
In July 2022 the company announced a definitive agreement to acquire National Tire Distributors (NTD), the Canadian subsidiary of American Tire Distributors (ATD). The transaction was completed in September 2022. [10][11]
In July 2023 the company acquired Fastco Canada, a manufacturer/distributor of alloy and steel wheels and accessories, thereby broadening its product portfolio beyond tires. [12]
In June 2024 the company took majority stake in Pneus Bélisle.[13]
In May 2025 Groupe Touchette signed a deal to supply the network of OK Tire Stores Inc. (300+ stores across Canada). [14]
In 2025, Groupe Touchette announced a reorganization of its executive leadership, appointing Nicolas Touchette and Frédéric Bouthillier as Co-Chief Executive Officers (Co-CEOs) and naming Egil Moller Nielsen as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The new structure aims to support the company’s growth strategy and operational scalability. Touchette and Bouthillier, who have led the company together for more than 15 years, continue to oversee its overall strategic direction. Nielsen, formerly of Coop Denmark and The Lego Group, brings extensive experience in logistics, supply chain management, and retail innovation. The leadership team also includes Chief Financial Officer Frédéric Poussard, who has been with the company since 2013 and has played a key role in financial strategy and mergers and acquisitions. These appointments reflect Groupe Touchette’s focus on strengthening operations, enhancing customer experience, and supporting long-term growth.[15]
In October 2025 the company opened two new warehouses in Québec City and Saguenay, Québec, representing an investment of about CA$50 million. These facilities were described as part of its strategy to increase regional coverage and distribution capacity.[16]
