Go Dharmic is a Hindu faith charity which started in Luton [1] and encourages people to create positive changes in the lives of others by volunteering and uses the motto 'love all, feed all, serve all'. [2]
History and work
[edit]During the COVID-19 pandemic the organisation provided meals to international students and others in need of urgent food assistance. [3][4] In India they mobilised a team of 1500 volunteers to support overstretched hospitals. [5]
In 2021 they opened The Good Karma Store in the former Gap store on Hamstead High street, offering goods crafted by rural women in India [6] and in 2024 the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak volunteered with the charity to support global compassion initiatives. [7] [8]
The organisation currently has a global network of 3,000 volunteers.[9] They continue to deliver free meals to vulnerable families, addressing food insecurity during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. [10]
Awards and nominations
[edit]- In 2023, they received a Points of Light award from the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.[11]
- In 2024, they received a Climate Action Championship Award for a Dharma Forest Initiative from the British Deputy High Commission. [12]
