Gibson App (marketed as Gibson: Learn & Play Guitar) is a mobile guitar-learning application developed by the Swedish company Zoundio AB in collaboration with Gibson Brands. It was released in 2021 for iOS and Android devices.[1][non-primary source needed]

The platform was first introduced in 2020 under the name Amped Guitar, developed by Zoundio AB in partnership with Gibson Brands. In January 2021, it was relaunched as the Gibson App with an expanded feature set and revised branding.

Reception

The Gibson App has received generally positive reviews from music and technology publications.

Guitar World described the app as “a strong option for beginners” and highlighted its structured learning path and use of gamification.[3]

Rolling Stone reported that the Gibson App was “changing the guitar-teaching game,” emphasizing its use of interactive feedback and Gibson TV integration. The publication noted that it gained over 150,000 downloads within days of launch during the COVID-19 pandemic.[4]

Acoustic Life included the Gibson App in its 2023 list of recommended guitar-learning platforms, citing its accessible design and suitability for entry-level players.[5]

Availability

The Gibson App is available for iOS devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers using Apple silicon (M1 and later). An Android version is also available, though it currently lacks certain iOS features such as Leagues and AI feedback.[6][non-primary source needed]
