[edit]Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
[edit]In the seventh film in the series, Gabriel is revealed to be a terrorist who was responsible for the murder of Hunt's girlfriend Marie, which led Hunt to become an IMF agent. He is currently in allegiance with the rogue artificial intelligence known as the "Entity", initially created by the United States, seeking to recover two parts of a cruciform key allowing access to the core of the sunken Russian submarine Sevastopol that contains the Entity's original source code. After the IMF team members meet Gabriel and the White Widow in a party in Venice, a chase ensues in which the Entity distracts Ethan away from Gabriel, allowing the latter to kill Ilsa in a fight. Gabriel then boards a train where he is confronted by Ethan, who manages to steal the key from Gabriel.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025)
[edit]Two months after the events of Dead Reckoning, Gabriel, already disavowed by the Entity due to his failure to retrieve the key, capture Hunt and Grace, a new member of the IMF team, as they pursue him. Gabriel coerces Ethan into retrieving the core module, revealed to be "Rabbit's Foot", from the sunken Russian submarine Sevastopol for him, which would give him control over the Entity's source code. As Ethan and Grace break free from captivity, Gabriel steals the Poison Pill, a malware created by the terminally-ill Luther Stickell for the Entity and plants a nuclear bomb in an underground chamber in London, which Stickell sacrifices himself to disarm. Planning to use Gabriel to defeat the Entity, Ethan successfully retrieves the module from the submarine and flies with his team to a secure digital bunker in South Africa, where they find Gabriel waiting for Ethan, with another nuclear bomb. Due to Kittridge and Briggs' intervention, the countdown is initiated, and Gabriel escapes in a biplane with Ethan in pursuit. Failing to shake Ethan off his plane, Gabriel attempts to escape using a parachute, but hits the plane's rudder and dies. As the nuclear bomb is disarmed, the IMF team successfully traps the Entity within a drive before it can launch a nuclear apocalypse.
